Mitchell boys tennis team secures victories at home quad

Mitchell High School boys tennis showcased their dominance in a home quadrangular on Monday, securing impressive victories against Vermillion and Pierre but falling short against Yankton. The Kernels started the day strong with a 9-0 win over Vermillion, with standout performances from Jager Juracek and Luke Jerke in singles and doubles play.

Facing off against Yankton, Mitchell fought hard but ultimately lost 6-3. Levi Loken and Asher Dannenbring managed to secure victories in singles play, while the Bucks swept the top four singles flights. The duo of Zachary Briggs and Harrison Krajewski narrowly defeated Juracek and Jerke in a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles.

In their final match of the day against Pierre, Mitchell dominated with five singles wins and a clean sweep in doubles play. Juracek, Star, and Mauszycki led the charge with impressive victories, solidifying Mitchell’s 8-1 win over Pierre.

With a season record of 15-5 (7-2 ESD) in duals, Mitchell is gearing up for their next challenge against ESD rivals Harrisburg and Sioux Falls Roosevelt. The Kernels will hit the courts for a triangular on Tuesday at Kuehn Park in Sioux Falls, looking to continue their winning streak in the competitive tennis season.
