Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Bartow girls tennis team is on the cusp of making it to the state tournament as a team after a strong performance in the regional semifinals. Led by No. 1 singles player Bhavya Pinapala and bolstered by the addition of two talented freshmen, including Montserrat Vasconez, the Yellow Jackets are one match away from securing a spot in the state tournament.

In a recent match against Dade City Pasco, Bartow emerged victorious with a 5-0 win, setting up a rematch with Wiregrass Ranch, the team that knocked them out last year. Coach Lindsay Hanger is confident in her team’s abilities, especially after a regular season where they only lost to McKeel.

Vasconez, one of the standout freshmen in Polk County, has made a significant impact on the team, currently boasting an 11-2 record at No. 1 singles. Her performance, along with the strong play of her teammates, has Bartow poised for success in the upcoming matches.

With Vasconez and Pinapala already qualifying for the state tournament in singles and doubles, the team is eager to secure a team berth as well. Hanger is optimistic about their chances, especially after a strong showing in the district tournament.

As Bartow gears up for the crucial matches ahead, the team’s depth and talent, particularly with the addition of the freshmen players, have positioned them as strong contenders in the quest for a state title. Fans and supporters are eagerly anticipating the team’s performance in the upcoming matches as they aim to make school history in the world of tennis.
