Monumental Sports Network is shaking up the way fans watch Washington Capitals and Wizards games with the announcement of a slate of live alternate broadcasts. Starting on Thursday, April 4 at 7:00 PM ET, sports fans in the DMV region will have the opportunity to experience a new and engaging way to watch their favorite teams in action.
“We’re excited to experiment with new alternate broadcast formats for our fanbase,” said Zach Leonsis, President of Media & New Enterprises at Monumental Sports & Entertainment. “This complimentary live viewing experience demonstrates our commitment to doing more with our live rights than ever before while also super serving our fanbase.”
The alternate broadcasts will feature a rotation of hosts, analysts, and special guests, providing real-time analysis of the live games and engaging conversation about the Capitals, Wizards, and other hot topics around the NBA and NHL. Regularly appearing talent for the Capitals broadcasts include Grant Paulsen, Devante Smith-Pelly, Bruce Boudreau, and Tarik El-Bashir. On the Wizards side, viewers can expect to see JP Finlay, Jason Smith, Steve Buckhantz, and Greivis Vásquez.
“Our new production facility and studio grant us the opportunity to innovate around the live viewing experience for our fans. I believe that these initial alternate broadcasts are only a precursor to what will be developed as soon as next season,” added Leonsis.
Fans can catch the alternate broadcasts on both linear TV and Monumental’s digital streaming platform. For those without a Pay TV subscription, Monumental Sports Network offers direct-to-consumer subscription memberships for access to live and on-demand programming.
