Moravian Academy and Liberty secure top honors

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Moravian Academy junior Brian Yang redeemed himself in a thrilling fashion as he secured the final point that led his team to victory in the Class 2A District 11 Team Championships. Two seasons ago, Yang had suffered a heartbreaking defeat that handed the district title to Allentown Central Catholic’s boys tennis team. This time, he was determined to flip the script and make sure Moravian Academy emerged victorious.

The Lions clinched the match 3-1 with wins from both doubles teams and third singles freshman Max Abia. Despite Allentown Central Catholic’s Tim Spinosa defeating Ford Koch at first singles, Moravian Academy’s strong performance sealed the deal. The win marked Moravian Academy’s 13th title in the last 15 tournaments, showcasing their dominance in the sport.

In the Class 3A final, Liberty also emerged victorious with a 4-0 team win against Emmaus. Led by senior David Broczkowski’s dominant performance in the third singles match, Liberty secured their third consecutive district title. The Hurricanes displayed exceptional teamwork and adaptability, with late lineup changes proving to be no obstacle for their success.

Both Moravian Academy and Liberty will now advance to the PIAA Tournament, where they will face off against tough competition. The teams have shown resilience and determination throughout the district championships, setting the stage for an exciting journey ahead in the state tournament.
