Morehead State University’s Education Abroad program transforms students’ lives and paves the way for their future success.

Morehead State University students are expanding their horizons through the Education Abroad program, with recent trips to Hungary and Romania providing valuable learning experiences.

Seven MSU students, including six in Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. Jason M. Adkins’ Politics of Russia and Eastern Europe Level UP course, had the opportunity to visit Central Europe during spring break. Dr. James Masterson and a student in the Master of Public Administration program also joined the group on this educational journey.

During their trip, students enhanced their critical thinking skills while visiting parliament buildings, museums, and churches in Budapest and Bucharest. They also had the chance to learn about Hungary’s relationship with the European Union from former ambassadors at Ludovika University of Public Service.

The highlight of the trip was a visit to Bran Castle in Romania, known for inspiring Dracula’s castle. Students also enjoyed relaxing in the Széchenyi Thermal Bath in Budapest and attending a classical string quartet concert at St. Stephen’s Basilica.

In addition to the Education Abroad program, several MSU students received prestigious scholarships to study in other parts of the world. Three students were awarded the Gilman Scholarship, while two were named Fulbright Scholars and one received the Boren Scholarship.

These opportunities for international study and cultural exchange are helping MSU students grow academically, culturally, personally, and professionally. The Education Abroad program continues to offer exciting experiences for students looking to broaden their perspectives and gain valuable skills for their future careers.
