Morris sophomore Connor Barth emerged victorious at the Class 1A La Salle-Peru Sectional, showcasing his talent and determination on the tennis court. Barth secured the singles championship with impressive wins over his opponents, solidifying his spot at the state tournament.

Barth’s journey to the title began with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Princeton’s Chase Sims in the semifinals. He then continued his winning streak with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Metamora’s Dane Hutchison in the championship match. Barth’s focus and drive were evident as he expressed his desire to earn the No. 1 seed and claim the sectional title.

While all competitors in the semifinals and title matches had already qualified for the state tournament, Barth’s goal is to make a lasting impression at the upcoming event. With previous experience at state as a freshman, Barth is determined to advance further this year and make it to Day 2 on Friday.

In the doubles bracket, the La Salle-Peru duo of Andrew Bollis and Danny Santoy put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short in the championship match. Despite the loss, both players are excited to compete at the state tournament and aim to make a mark in their final prep season.
