A tragic incident unfolded in Richmond as a woman’s body was discovered in her home, leading to the apprehension of her 38-year-old son. The investigation began when authorities were called to the residence on Princeton Avenue for a well-being check on Friday evening.
Upon arrival, Richmond RCMP officers found the lifeless body of a 71-year-old woman inside the home. Sgt. Timothy Pierotti stated that evidence at the scene prompted the apprehension of the victim’s son, who was present in the residence at the time.
Residents in the vicinity reported a significant police presence at the scene, with officers armed with long guns and utilizing a battering ram to gain entry into the home. Witnesses observed the son being escorted out in handcuffs.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case and is collaborating with the Richmond RCMP, BC Coroners Service, and Integrated Forensic Identification Services. Authorities have assured the public that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the community.
