Rafael Nadal’s recent performance at Roland-Garros has sparked speculation about his future in tennis, with many questioning whether the 37-year-old Spaniard still has what it takes to compete at the highest level. However, renowned coach Patrick Mouratoglou believes that Nadal’s showing against Alexander Zverev is proof that the legendary player still has plenty left in the tank.

Mouratoglou took to Instagram to share his thoughts on Nadal’s performance, stating that the match against Zverev showed that Nadal can still compete with the best in the world. Despite losing in three sets, Nadal’s quality of play and movement on the court impressed Mouratoglou, who believes that the Spaniard is far from finished.

The coach also highlighted Nadal’s decision to skip the grass-court season and focus on preparing for the Olympics as a positive sign of his intentions to continue playing at the highest level. Mouratoglou expressed confidence in Nadal’s ability to perform well at the Olympics and potentially even win Roland-Garros next year.

Veteran player Benoit Paire echoed Mouratoglou’s sentiments, suggesting that Nadal would have beaten the majority of the field playing the way he did against Zverev. Despite being unseeded and facing a tough draw, Nadal’s performance against Zverev showcased his enduring competitiveness.

As Nadal approaches his 38th birthday, the question of retirement looms, but Mouratoglou believes that as long as Nadal remains injury-free and maintains his level of play, there is no reason for him to stop competing. With the Olympics on the horizon and the possibility of more big titles in his future, Nadal’s fans can look forward to seeing the legendary player continue to make his mark on the tennis world.
