More than 100 people gathered at the Edmonds Center for the Arts for the fourth annual Edmonds Move4Mona Walk/Run, raising money for the Mona Foundation, a global education community focused on equalizing opportunities for children in poverty.

Mona Foundation founder Mahnaz Javid shared the foundation’s humble beginnings in Edmonds in 1999, which has now grown to support 4.2 million students in 23 countries. Javid expressed gratitude to the attendees and invited them to the 25th-anniversary celebration event in Seattle.

Organizer Shiva Ridell shared how the event started with just her and grew to include more participants each year, emphasizing that 100% of donations go to those in need. Edmonds Mayor Mike Rosen highlighted the importance of education and empowerment, especially for girls, and praised the foundation’s efforts.

The event surpassed its fundraising goal of $25,000, bringing the community and businesses together for positive change. Participants like Tomiko Kausal-Hayes enjoyed supporting the cause while staying active. Raffle prizes from local businesses added to the excitement of the event.

Sponsors including Cascadia Art Museum and Café Louvre supported the event, and donations can still be made online. The Move4Mona Walk/Run was a celebration of unity, generosity, and making a difference in the lives of others.
