Movsar Evloev refuses to wait for Aljamain Sterling; Diego Lopes and Sterling share their thoughts

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Movsar Evloev and Diego Lopes are once again making headlines in the UFC world, stirring up drama and challenging each other to a potential showdown in the octagon.

After Evloev’s impressive victory over Arnold Allen at UFC 297, he was poised for a shot at the featherweight title. However, with the recent upset by Ilia Topuria over Alexander Volkanovski, the title picture became uncertain. Evloev now needs another fight before a title shot, and it seemed like former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling could be his next opponent.

But things took a turn when Evloev claimed on Twitter that Sterling’s timeline for a fight didn’t align with his own. Sterling fired back, stating that he had made it clear he would be ready by September or October, and that as the former champ, Evloev should fight when he says so.

The back-and-forth continued on social media, with Evloev expressing his readiness to fight anyone who thinks they can beat him, while Sterling called out Evloev for his “fake bravado.”

Amidst this drama, Diego Lopes, who recently scored a first-round victory at UFC 300, called out Evloev for a rematch. Lopes had previously faced Evloev at UFC 288 on short notice and despite losing, he impressed many with his performance and subsequent wins.

Lopes challenged Evloev to a fight at International Fight Week, pointing out that Evloev had not responded to his previous callout. The tension between the two fighters is palpable, with Lopes eager for a chance to prove himself against Evloev once again.

As the UFC featherweight division heats up with these rivalries and challenges, fans are eagerly anticipating the next move from Evloev, Sterling, and Lopes. Will we see these matchups come to fruition in the octagon? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
