MS Dhoni’s unbeaten streak in the Indian Premier League season 2024 came to a dramatic end on Wednesday at the Chepauk stadium. The Chennai Super Kings captain, known for his finishing prowess, faced off against Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh in the final over of the innings.

Dhoni, greeted by a roaring crowd at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, started the over with a boundary and continued to put pressure on Arshdeep by hitting two wides. In a small cameo, Dhoni refused to rotate the strike and even almost got his teammate Daryl Mitchell run out.

The former India skipper then smashed a massive six off Arshdeep but was ultimately run out on the penultimate ball while attempting a desperate double. This marked the first time in the IPL 2024 league phase that Dhoni was dismissed in the CSK innings, ending his unbeaten run of seven games.

Prior to this match, Dhoni had scored 96 runs at a blistering strike rate of almost 260. Despite the unfortunate end to his innings, Dhoni’s contribution to the CSK team has been invaluable throughout the season.

The nail-biting finish and Dhoni’s rare dismissal have added an extra layer of excitement to the ongoing IPL season, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as the tournament progresses.
