Mumbai head coach Omkar Salvi to stay on, Sanjay Patil appointed chairman of selectors

In a major reshuffle, Omkar Salvi has been retained as the head coach of the Ranji Trophy-winning Mumbai team, while Sanjay Patil has been appointed as the chairman of selectors for the upcoming season. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced the new appointments for the 2024-25 season, with a focus on strengthening the coaching and selection panels across various age groups.

Patil, a former Mumbai cricketer with 33 First-Class matches under his belt, will lead the senior men’s and U-23 selection committee, alongside members Ravi Thaker, Jeetendra Thackrey, Kiran Powar, and Vikrant Yeligati. Meanwhile, Rajesh Pawar, a former Mumbai and Baroda player, will take on the role of head coach for Mumbai’s men’s U-23 team.

Dinesh Lad has been named the head coach of the men’s U-19 team, with Deepak Jadhav appointed as the chairman of selectors. The women’s teams also saw new appointments, with Sunetra Paranjape and Ajay Kadam named as head coaches for the senior and U-23 teams respectively.

The MCA also announced the appointments for the men’s U-16 and U-14 teams, with Sandesh Kawle and Nilesh Masurkar taking on the roles of head coaches. Additionally, the women’s U-15 team will be led by Aparna Kambli, with Manish More serving as the chairman of selectors.

With a fresh lineup of coaches and selectors in place, Mumbai cricket looks set for an exciting season ahead, as the new team prepares to build on the success of the previous year.
