In a tragic incident in Frayser, Memphis, business owner Khalid Al Ghazali was ambushed and fatally shot in front of his business, Royal Bee Beauty. Surveillance video captured the horrifying moment when Ghazali was attacked by three individuals who blocked his exit with a Toyota Sequoia and opened fire on him. Despite trying to escape by ramming his truck into the Toyota, Ghazali was mercilessly shot at close range through the driver’s side window.

The Muslim community in Memphis, deeply shaken by the incident, has come together to address the growing concerns of safety and security for business owners. In response to the escalating violence, Muslim Business Leaders announced the formation of the Memphis Muslim Chamber of Commerce (MMCC) to collaborate with city and county leaders in ensuring the protection of businesses and customers.

The tragic death of Ghazali, a father and husband, marks the second Muslim business owner killed in two months, following the murder of Fares Shihab in February. The community is demanding change and action from authorities to combat the rising violence and crime in the city. Plans for a youth initiative this summer have been put in place by the MMCC, aiming to create a stronger and safer business environment with the support of leaders and funding. The need for a safer community and the prevention of such senseless acts of violence have become a top priority for the Muslim community in Memphis.
