Narendra Modi escalates anti-Muslim rhetoric in India’s election campaign

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sparked controversy with his divisive rhetoric during the ongoing election campaign, aiming to secure a historic third term for his party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Analysts are skeptical about the BJP’s ability to significantly increase its seat count, questioning the feasibility of reaching the 370-seat target. The campaign’s divisive tone has also raised concerns among voters, with some expressing weariness over the polarizing rhetoric.

As the election unfolds, the outcome remains uncertain, with strict rules prohibiting the publication of exit polls. The results are set to be announced on June 4 after six weeks of staggered voting, leaving the political landscape in India in a state of anticipation and speculation.
