‘Narendra Modi, Sachin Tendulkar, and Amit Shah Throw Their Hats in the Ring for India Coach Position’

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The deadline for submitting applications for Team India’s head coach has passed, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly receiving more than 3000 applications. While former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir is said to lead the race, some surprising names have also thrown their hats in the ring. Among them are none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

According to a report in the Indian Express, the BCCI has received multiple applications in the names of famous cricketers like Tendulkar, Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, and Virender Sehwag, as well as political leaders Modi and Shah. The board had to resort to Google forms for applications to easily scrutinize the names of applicants in one sheet.

The advertisement issued by the BCCI stated that the applicant must be willing to meet work expectations and pressures associated with handling marquee athletes, and they should help in developing a world-class Indian cricket team that delivers sustained success in all conditions and formats.

Current head coach Rahul Dravid’s tenure is set to end after the T20 World Cup 2024, and the BCCI is expected to assign a new head coach for the Indian team post the event. However, with no concrete news on Dravid’s replacement yet, there is a possibility of a delay in the appointment.

It remains to be seen who will ultimately take on the crucial role of leading Team India and guiding them to further success on the international stage.
