Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is inviting Emirati artists to participate in the upcoming ‘Narratives of Belonging’ exhibition, a platform to celebrate their achievements and showcase their creative expressions. The exhibition aims to support and motivate artists in all fields of arts and culture, while also promoting sustainability within the cultural and arts sector.
The open call for participation encourages established and emerging Emirati artists, practitioners, and designers to explore storytelling themes in their artworks. Emphasizing concepts such as collectivism, cultural heritage, and the exploration of traditions, values, and identity, participants are invited to express their ideas, visions, and artistic trends through mediums such as visual arts, drawing, sculpture, photography, design, calligraphy, and multimedia.
The deadline for submissions is 1 June, after which a specialized committee will evaluate the artworks to determine eligibility for participation in the exhibition. The event will be held at Al Safa Art and Design Library, providing a platform for Emirati artists to showcase their varied artistic perspectives inspired by the theme of ‘Narratives of Belonging’.
Dubai Culture is offering artists the opportunity to showcase their original, contemporary artworks that have not been previously showcased, while also respecting local cultural traditions and values. Whether working individually or collaboratively, participants are encouraged to submit one or more artworks that highlight the significance of storytelling in the cultural and artistic realm.
The exhibition aims to create a sustainable artistic environment that strengthens Dubai’s cultural and creative industries. By supporting and promoting Emirati artists, Dubai Culture is contributing to the growth and development of the local art scene, while also providing a platform for artists to expand their creative passion and participation in the cultural landscape.
Emirati artists specializing in visual, digital, literary, and design arts are encouraged to take part in the ‘Narratives of Belonging’ exhibition, showcasing their talent and creativity to a wider audience. Through this open call, Dubai Culture is fostering a sense of community and belonging among artists, while also highlighting the importance of storytelling in preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
As the deadline for submissions approaches, Emirati artists are urged to seize this opportunity to showcase their unique artistic expressions and contribute to the vibrant cultural scene in Dubai. The ‘Narratives of Belonging’ exhibition promises to be a celebration of Emirati talent and creativity, showcasing the diverse and rich artistic heritage of the region.
