NBA Playoffs: Which Team Has Made the Most Impactful Start and Surprised Fans the Most?

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The NBA playoffs have been full of surprises and disappointments so far, with each first-round series now completed two games apiece. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest revelations from the first week of play and what to watch for as the playoffs pivot to crucial Game 3s.

In terms of impressive starts to the playoffs, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder has been turning heads with his poise and performance, dropping ankles and leading his team out of tense moments. Meanwhile, Pascal Siakam has been making history by becoming the first player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1967 to record at least 35 points and 10 rebounds in back-to-back games to start a postseason.

On the flip side, the Suns have been the most disappointing team so far, struggling against the Timberwolves and looking old and out of sorts. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal have yet to make a significant impact in the series, leaving fans wondering if it’s panic time for Phoenix.

As the playoffs shift to Game 3s, all eyes will be on the Lakers-Nuggets series as Darvin Ham’s lack of adjustments and Anthony Davis’ fourth-quarter production come into question. Additionally, the health of Joel Embiid will be a major storyline to watch, as the 76ers need him to be at his best to avoid another early playoff exit.

With plenty of drama and excitement already unfolding in the NBA playoffs, fans can expect even more twists and turns as the series progress to the next crucial games.
