NBC Los Angeles: Dodgers Drop Fourth Consecutive Game with 3-1 Loss to Reds

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Cincinnati Reds continued their winning streak against the Los Angeles Dodgers, securing a 3-1 victory on Saturday night. Spencer Steer and Will Benson both hit home runs, while Hunter Greene delivered a stellar pitching performance, allowing only one run in six innings.

After a high-scoring game on Friday, the Reds relied on timely hitting and strong relief pitching to clinch the series win against the struggling Dodgers. Greene, who improved his record to 3-2, was supported by the bullpen trio of Fernando Cruz, Sam Moll, and closer Alexis Diaz, who shut down the Dodgers in the final inning to secure the win.

Despite a second consecutive solid outing from Dodgers’ pitcher Walker Buehler, the Reds managed to capitalize on key moments, with Steer and Benson providing the offensive firepower needed for the victory. Elly De La Cruz also contributed with an RBI single in the sixth inning.

The Dodgers had their chances, including a threatening moment in the second inning when they loaded the bases with no outs, but Greene managed to escape with minimal damage. Shohei Ohtani’s triple in the sixth inning went in vain as the Dodgers failed to capitalize on the scoring opportunity.

With this win, the Reds secured their first back-to-back victories since April and will look to continue their winning streak in the series finale on Sunday. The Dodgers will send Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the mound, while the Reds are yet to announce their starting pitcher for the game, which has been rescheduled to an earlier time due to predicted severe weather conditions.
