NCHSAA Tennis: Demons Cruise to Victory over Southern Alamance

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Fike High School’s boys tennis team dominated in the NCHSAA 3-A dual-team playoff opener against Southern Alamance, securing a 9-0 victory. The Golden Demons, seeded third out of 32 teams in the 3-A East, displayed their prowess on the court by only giving up two points in singles and doubles matches.

Led by seniors Hatten Gore, Dylan Skinner, and Snyder Pearson, along with Zachary Hill, Cian Bonner, and Collins Pearson, Fike High showcased their talent and teamwork. The team’s decision to play a day earlier due to weather forecasts paid off as they swiftly defeated the Patriots.

The Pearson brothers, who are the Quad County champions, did not play in this match to prepare for the upcoming 3-A East Regional tournament. Collins Pearson extended his winning streak to 15 matches, highlighting his exceptional skills on the court.

In another match, Hunt High School faced a tough loss against Croatan in the NCHSAA 3-A dual-team playoffs, with a final score of 5-1. Despite the defeat, seniors Alex Ellis and Anthony Romero will continue to compete in the 3-A East Regional tournament.

Ellis secured Hunt’s only point with a victory in singles, showcasing his determination and skill. The Warriors may have exited the playoffs early, but Ellis and Romero have the opportunity to shine in the regional tournament. Croatan, with an impressive 18-0 record, will advance to the next round to face either West Brunswick or South Johnston.
