NDE provides starter packs to 42 entrepreneurs in Adamawa

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has successfully empowered 42 beneficiaries in Adamawa with starter packs to help them establish their own businesses. This initiative was part of a three-month life skills and business training program organized by the NDE in Yola.

Malam Nuhu Fikpo, the Director-General of NDE, highlighted the importance of skill acquisition and youth empowerment in rural communities, emphasizing that it is crucial for poverty eradication and national security. The beneficiaries were recruited from all 21 local governments in Adamawa and trained in various trades such as carpentry, welding, fashion design, and computer appreciation.

The training program followed an open apprenticeship skill process, where each beneficiary chose a skill of their choice and was attached to a master trainer for theoretical and practical training. Additionally, the beneficiaries received soft loans and starter packs to effectively utilize the knowledge acquired and become job creators.

Dr. Hassan Abdulkarim, Assistant Chief Training Officer of NDE, commended the beneficiaries for their dedication and encouraged them to launch their businesses and support those around them. One of the beneficiaries, Mohammed Isa, expressed gratitude towards NDE for helping him realize his dream of becoming a welder and being self-reliant.

Overall, the NDE’s initiative in empowering these individuals with the necessary skills and resources to start their own businesses is a significant step towards poverty eradication and economic development in Adamawa.
