The University of Nebraska–Lincoln recently honored eight outstanding entrepreneurs during an award ceremony at the Rococo Theatre. The event, presented by the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship, recognized individuals who have made significant contributions to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nebraska.
Among the awardees was Janna Ronert, founder of Image Skincare and Hush & Hush, who received the Distinguished Entrepreneur Award. Ronert, a proud graduate of the university, has been a strong supporter and mentor for students pursuing innovation. She established the Janna Ronert Husker Hustle Scholarship to support entrepreneurial-minded students.
Mike Smith, founder of The Bay, was honored with the Nebraska Distinguished Entrepreneur Award for his innovative work in creating a safe and creative space for youth. Smith’s dedication to empowering young adults through programs like Bay High has had a significant impact on the community.
Vern Powers, CEO of Hastings Industrial Manufacturing, received the Jeff Vaske Service in Entrepreneurship Award for his unwavering leadership and invaluable contributions to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Powers’ commitment to mentoring students and supporting initiatives has helped expand entrepreneurship at the university.
Other awardees included Sentinel Fertigation, Erin Stahla, Justin Krug, Dave Lambe, and Eduardo Sicilia Ayala, who were recognized for their innovative ventures and contributions to the entrepreneurial community. These individuals have demonstrated creativity, resilience, and a passion for making a difference in the world of entrepreneurship.
The awards ceremony highlighted the importance of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in Nebraska, showcasing the diverse talents and achievements of entrepreneurs across the state.
