A recent poll conducted by Monmouth University has revealed a significant group of voters who dislike both former president Donald Trump and President Joe Biden, potentially playing a crucial role in the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.

The poll indicates that 60 percent of voters are not enthusiastic about the election, particularly given the matchup between the presumptive Democratic and Republican nominees. A substantial portion of voters, referred to as “double haters,” express discontent with both candidates, with 78 percent stating they are unhappy with either Mr. Trump or Mr. Biden leading their party’s ticket.

Despite this, Mr. Biden holds a slight lead among this group, with 26 percent indicating they will likely vote for him, compared to 17 percent for Mr. Trump. However, a significant 55 percent of “double haters” are unlikely to vote for either candidate.

Interestingly, independent candidate Robert F Kennedy emerges as a potential alternative, with 24 percent of voters having a favorable opinion of him. However, only 15 percent of “double haters” express a definite intention to vote for him.

The poll results come amidst other surveys showing a close race between Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden, with concerns raised about the mental faculties of both candidates. The survey, conducted between 18-22 April, included responses from 746 registered voters, with a margin of error of 4.3 percentage points.
