Iranian Journalist Attacked in London After Interview with Israeli Prime Minister

A shocking incident unfolded in London on Friday when Iranian journalist Pouria Zeraati was brutally attacked outside his home in Wimbledon. Zeraati, who hosts a show on the anti-Iranian regime television network Iran International, was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds after two assailants assaulted him.

The motivation behind the attack was not immediately clear, but a news website run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran suggested that Zeraati had incurred “wrath” for conducting an interview with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The IRGC highlighted Zeraati’s recent interview with Netanyahu, whose government is currently engaged in a conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

The attack on Zeraati is believed to be the first of its kind and has raised concerns about the safety of journalists and activists critical of the Iranian regime. UK counter-terrorism police, who have foiled 15 plots linked to Iran in the past, are leading the investigation into the attack.

Adam Baillie, a spokesman for Iran International, confirmed that Zeraati is in stable condition and recovering from the attack. The incident has been described as a “wake-up call” for the West, with experts warning that Iran is actively targeting reporters and activists in the West.

The attack on Zeraati serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by journalists who dare to speak out against oppressive regimes and the importance of protecting freedom of speech and press freedom.
