Netflix is gearing up to release two new animated films, “Spellbound” and “Pookoo,” in partnership with Skydance Animation, and the details are sure to excite fans of family-friendly content.

“Spellbound” follows the story of Ellian, the daughter of the rulers of Lumbria, who must break a mysterious spell that has turned her parents into monsters. With the help of the Oracles of the Sun and Moon, Ellian embarks on a magical journey to save her family. The film boasts an impressive lineup of talent, including director Vicky Jensen and composer Alan Menken, known for their work on beloved Disney classics.

The star-studded cast of “Spellbound” includes Rachel Zegler, Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, John Lithgow, and Jenifer Lewis, adding even more excitement to the highly anticipated release on November 22.

In addition to “Spellbound,” Netflix is also working on “Pookoo,” a buddy comedy about a woodland creature and a majestic bird who magically trade places and embark on an adventure. Directed by Nathan Greno and produced by industry veterans John Lasseter and Mary Ellen Bauder, “Pookoo” is set to hit screens in 2025.

With these new animated releases, Netflix is doubling down on its commitment to providing diverse and engaging content for subscribers of all ages. The streaming platform’s investment in animated content has proven successful, with hits like “Leo” and “The Sea Beast” driving subscriber retention.

As Netflix continues to expand its programming slate, fans can look forward to more exciting projects like “Spellbound” and “Pookoo” in the years to come.
