Neuralink, the neurotechnology company founded by Elon Musk, has made significant progress in its clinical trials for its Telepathy cybernetic brain implant. After successfully completing over 100 days of trials with its first participant, Noland Arbaugh, who has experienced remarkable improvements in controlling digital devices using his thoughts alone, Neuralink is now inviting more applications for its clinical trials.

Elon Musk announced, “Neuralink is accepting applications for the second participant. This is our Telepathy cybernetic brain implant that allows you to control your phone and computer just by thinking.” The company aims to help paralyzed patients regain control over their digital devices through this groundbreaking technology.

The PRIME Study, which stands for Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface, is an investigational medical device trial for Neuralink’s fully-implantable, wireless brain-computer interface. It is designed to assess the safety and functionality of the implant and surgical robot, as well as the ability of individuals with quadriplegia to control external devices using their thoughts.

Prospective participants who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for the trial by providing medical information, demographics, and other relevant details. Neuralink has one clinical trial available for enrollment in the United States, and participants will be contacted based on their eligibility from the Patient Registry.

Despite some challenges with the implant’s tiny wires moving out of position during the initial trial, Neuralink has managed to make adjustments and enhance the device’s functionality. The company remains committed to advancing its technology to help improve the lives of individuals with neurological conditions.
