New Arcade Bar Coming Soon to Downtown for Added Entertainment

The Lodi Planning Commission has approved a new “arcade bar” to be located in Downtown Lodi, despite concerns about the area’s history of after-hours disturbances. The venue, which will feature arcade games and a virtual golf suite, will be located at 114 North Sacramento St. and will only admit patrons 21 and older due to the serving of alcohol.

The decision to approve the use permit and alcohol license for the establishment was made after the owners assured the commission that there would be no live music or dancing allowed on the premises. Additionally, the venue will have limited hours of operation, closing at 10 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends.

The Lodi Police Department, which has dealt with numerous calls for service at neighboring establishments, expressed support for the new arcade bar due to its restricted hours of operation. The owners, Armando Rodriguez and his sister Alma, emphasized their commitment to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons.

Despite concerns about the area’s history of violence, the commission praised the proposal as a positive addition to the community. Commission chair Mitch Slater expressed optimism about the new venue, calling it a “lovely addition to liveable, loveable Lodi.” Vice chair Crystal Hicks was absent from the meeting where the decision was made.

The owners of the arcade bar have pledged to adhere to all regulations and maintain a safe environment for their customers, with the understanding that any incidents could result in the revocation of their permits. Overall, the new entertainment venue is expected to bring a fun and safe option for residents and visitors to enjoy in Downtown Lodi.
