New business park in Stockport set to generate hundreds of job opportunities

Plans for a £4m business park in Stockport are on the verge of approval, set to provide a significant boost to Greater Manchester’s economy. The proposed Cheadle Eco Business Park is expected to generate up to 300 full-time equivalent jobs and attract substantial investment to the area.

Funded by the government’s Town Fund, which aims to rebalance the national economy, the business park is striving for an ‘outstanding’ sustainability rating from BREEAM. It will be constructed to be net zero carbon and will utilize air source heat pump technology.

Located on council-owned land in Cheadle Heath, the business park will cater to firms in distribution and manufacturing, offering new hybrid workspaces. The prime location, close to the M60 and with access to public transport, makes it an attractive option for businesses and employees.

Councillors from Stockport’s Cheadle Area Committee are scheduled to review the plans on April 16, with a recommendation for approval from the town hall’s planning panel. If greenlit, the project will see the creation of six commercial units spread across three blocks, with outdoor spaces for employees.

This development is part of a larger transformation in Greater Manchester, with recent approval for a new data centre in Stockport and ongoing upgrades to Stockport railway station. The region is also focusing on building more homes to attract residents and workers, further enhancing the area’s economic growth and infrastructure.
