The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews has unveiled its new-look clubhouse after completing extensive renovation work to enhance the building and introduce new facilities. This redevelopment project marks the most significant upgrade to the clubhouse in a century, with the last major addition dating back to 1924.
The revamped clubhouse now features expanded locker room space with dedicated facilities for women, a heritage lounge showcasing historic architectural plans, a members’ shop, a refurbished trophy room displaying the club’s prestigious awards, and a golf concierge desk offering services to members.
Martin Slumbers, Secretary of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, expressed his satisfaction with the renovations, stating, “The clubhouse renovation is the most significant enhancement that we have made to the building in 100 years, and we are pleased to have made these improvements while retaining its special character and appearance.”
He added, “All members will now be able to enjoy the use of new and improved facilities which will enrich their experience of visiting and playing golf in St Andrews. Importantly, we are now able to cater to the increasing number of members who attend the Spring and Autumn meetings that we hold each year, as well as meeting the requirements of staging our professional and amateur championships here.”
The residents of St Andrews were also acknowledged for their patience and understanding during the renovation process. The new clubhouse design and facilities are set to enhance the overall experience for members and visitors alike, solidifying the club’s reputation as a premier destination for golf enthusiasts.
