The makers of the upcoming film ‘Phule’ unveiled a new poster on the 197th birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotirao Phule. The poster features lead actors Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa, who portray the iconic couple Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule and his wife, Dnyanajyoti Savitribai Phule.
In the poster, the actors are depicted gazing towards the horizon, symbolizing the dawn of a new era, which is a metaphor for the educational revolution initiated by the Phule couple. National Award-winning director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, who is helming the project, expressed his desire to shed light on the prevailing social issues that continue to plague society.
Mahadevan emphasized that Mahatma and Jyotiba Phule fought against caste and gender discrimination, issues that still persist today. He aims to reignite conversations about these pressing issues through the film.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Jyotirao Phule, acknowledging his contributions to education and women empowerment. PM Modi reiterated his government’s commitment to fulfilling the vision of the social reformer to empower the poor and marginalized.
