New State Leader for Nevada 4-H Appointed by University of Nevada, Reno Extension

Lindsay Chichester has been appointed as the new state leader for the 4-H Youth Development Program at the University of Nevada, Reno Extension, starting on June 1. With nearly 15 years of experience in Extension community work, Chichester has a strong background in enhancing youth engagement and livestock systems.

Having previously worked at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Extension, Chichester joined the University of Nevada, Reno Extension in 2016 and has since made significant contributions to the 4-H Youth Development Program. Her expertise in livestock production and educational program development has been instrumental in promoting initiatives such as the Youth for the Quality Care of Animals Program.

Chichester’s personal connection to 4-H, having been a member herself, adds a special touch to her new role as the state leader. She aims to expand youth engagement in 4-H programs across Nevada and ensure that every youth in the state has access to the organization’s opportunities.

With a Ph.D. in systems agriculture and a diverse range of instructional expertise, Chichester is well-equipped to lead and develop educational and leadership programs for the 26,000 youth participants in Nevada’s 4-H program. Her passion and dedication to empowering the youth of Nevada have been recognized by Jacob DeDecker, Extension director, who believes that her vision will inspire positive change and growth within the 4-H community.

Chichester is particularly excited about expanding the 4-H summer camps, which have been a cherished tradition for Nevadans for decades. Registration for campers is now open, and camp counselors are also needed. Additionally, the Nevada 4-H Program will showcase hands-on, fun, and educational activities at the College’s 2024 Nevada Field Day & Ag Expo on May 31.
