The University of Texas at Arlington is ushering in a new era of support for student and faculty entrepreneurship with the launch of its Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Development (CETD). This center aims to foster innovation, commercialize new technologies, and launch companies for the betterment of North Texas communities and the global economy.
Paul Corson, the executive director of CETD, expressed his excitement about the center’s mission to expand tools and resources for campus and the community. Since joining UTA in September, Corson has been revitalizing entrepreneurship support offerings, including specialized programming for the Arlington Latino Chamber of Commerce and the relaunch of UTA’s Student Entrepreneurship Club.
CETD has also partnered with 101 Center Street to explore a 1 Million Cups program for Arlington, providing a supportive space for entrepreneurs to connect and work through business challenges. Additionally, MavMarket offers student entrepreneurs opportunities to market and refine their product offerings.
Kate C. Miller, vice president for research and innovation, highlighted the importance of mentoring young business leaders and connecting them with resources on and off campus. The emphasis on transforming UTA-generated research and ideas into real-world solutions is expected to have a significant impact on society.
The entrepreneurial community at UTA is buzzing with excitement as CETD’s initiatives gain momentum. With a focus on supporting innovation and fostering entrepreneurship, UTA is poised to become a hub for technological advancement and economic growth in North Texas.
