News Corp Australia Introduces National Education Advocacy Initiative for 2024 with Enhanced Program

Reading Time: < 1 minute

News Corp Australia has launched its second annual national education advocacy initiative with an expanded program aimed at addressing critical issues facing the country’s education system. Over the next six weeks, News Corp Australia’s state-based mastheads will tackle challenges in the education sector, present solutions, and celebrate the hardworking educators who are making a difference in children’s lives.

The campaign kicks off with Best In Class, a five-day editorial series that delves into the issues contributing to poor student outcomes in classrooms. Topics covered include the behavior crisis in modern classrooms, a new behavior curriculum, teacher shortages and resignations, and the vaping problem. This series aims to offer solutions to support education and improve student performance.

In addition, News Corp Australia has launched Schools Hub, an interactive journalism tool that provides data on NAPLAN performance of schools over the past five years. This tool will help parents compare and decide on the best schools for their children. An exclusive feature on May 4 will incorporate REA data to help readers discover the school catchments that yield the best results.

Australia’s Best Teachers campaign will also return on May 5 to celebrate the nation’s most inspiring and innovative educators. Students, parents, and colleagues are encouraged to nominate their favorite educators to be profiled in state mastheads, including The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Courier-Mail, and The Advertiser.

Editor Anna Caldwell emphasized the importance of education advocacy in improving support for teachers and education outcomes for Australian families. The campaign aims to address current challenges in the education sector and find solutions to elevate the status and respect for teachers. With the support of partners like Officeworks, Teachers Mutual Bank, and Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools, News Corp Australia is committed to boosting this important campaign.
