News – Expressing Gratitude to Dr. Monica Noraian

Dr. Monica Noraian, a beloved figure in the Department of History at Illinois State University, is bidding farewell after 26 years of service. While she is transitioning to a new role as the director of the Cecilia J. Lauby Teacher Education Center, her absence will be deeply felt in Schroeder Hall.

Noraian has been a pivotal figure in the history-social sciences education program, serving as the program director and a tenured track professor since 2008. Her dedication to her students and the program has left a lasting impact on all who have had the privilege of learning from her.

Colleagues and former students alike have shared their fond memories of Noraian, highlighting her commitment to service learning and her innovative teaching methods. From organizing urban education trips to Chicago to creating opportunities for student teaching abroad, Noraian has always gone above and beyond to provide enriching educational experiences for her students.
