Central junior Keion Epps has been named the 2023-24 Boys Basketball Player of the Year by the News-Leader after leading the Bulldogs to their best season in 79 years. Epps played a pivotal role in Central’s success, helping them reach the semifinals for the first time since 1963 and securing a third-place victory over Oak Park to cap off a 25-7 season.

Epps, who led the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game, was instrumental in Central’s achievements this season, including their first Blue and Gold title in 40 years, two wins over Kickapoo for the first time since 2009, and a district championship after 15 seasons. His stellar performance on the court earned him the prestigious Player of the Year title, beating out other standout players in the area.

Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, Epps will have the opportunity to lead Central to another successful campaign as the team is set to return all but one player on their roster. With Epps at the helm, the Bulldogs have a strong chance of making another deep postseason run and continuing their winning ways.

Epps’ recognition as Player of the Year is a testament to his skill, leadership, and dedication to the sport. His impressive performance on the court has not only elevated his own game but also inspired his teammates to strive for excellence. Congratulations to Keion Epps on this well-deserved honor.
