Nicki Minaj refuses to comply with police in Amsterdam drug arrest: ‘I’m not going there’

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Nicki Minaj found herself in hot water in Amsterdam over the weekend, as she was reportedly arrested for allegedly carrying drugs. Despite her protests and insistence that she had no contraband, the “Super Bass” singer was taken into custody by authorities at the Amsterdam airport.

In a series of Instagram Live videos, Minaj can be seen arguing with officers who wanted to arrest her for drug possession. The 41-year-old rapper demanded a lawyer be present before cooperating with the officials. The officers mentioned her scheduled concert in Manchester, England, and assured her they would try to get her there as soon as possible.

Minaj questioned why her bags were not searched before boarding the plane and expressed frustration over the situation. She documented the incident on Instagram, revealing that authorities claimed to have found marijuana and confiscated her bags. Minaj pointed out that marijuana is legal in Amsterdam, where she was detained.

Fans of the music superstar took to social media with the hashtag “#FREENICKI” as they awaited updates on the situation. Despite the delay caused by Minaj’s arrest, the Manchester arena announced that her concert would only be delayed by 30 minutes.

This is not the first time Minaj has faced legal troubles, as she and her husband, Kenneth Petty, were recently ordered to pay $500,000 to a German security guard over an alleged backstage altercation. Petty, a registered sex offender, has a history of legal issues, including a recent arrest for failing to register as a sex offender.

Despite the controversies surrounding her personal life, Minaj has continued to defend her marriage to Petty. The rapper’s tumultuous relationship with Petty has been a subject of public scrutiny, with even other artists referencing his criminal past in their music.
