Nigerian Army Withdraws 29 Infantry Corps Generals

The Nigerian Army bid farewell to 29 Generals of the Infantry Corps who retired from active military service in a grand ceremony at the Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State. The retirees, including 19 Major Generals and 10 Brigadiers General, were honored for their years of dedicated service to the nation.

Maj.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu, speaking on behalf of the retirees, urged their successors to build on the achievements of the Infantry Corps and surpass them. He emphasized the expanding frontline and the increasing commitment of the Nigerian Army in the face of evolving threats to national sovereignty.

Ezugwu called for the adoption of modern technology and ICT enablers, as well as the development of leadership skills among junior commanders. He also donated books and funds to enhance training, reading culture, and mentorship within the Infantry Corps.

Describing retirement as a natural phase in a military career, Ezugwu expressed gratitude for the support and recognition from the Chief of Army Staff and the Commander Infantry Corps. The pulling out parade was attended by a large gathering of colleagues, friends, and community members, reflecting the respect and admiration for the retiring Generals.

The ceremony was marked by emotional moments, nostalgic memories, and a sense of fulfillment as the Generals took their final bow from the Infantry Corps. The event was a fitting tribute to their decades of service and sacrifice to the nation.
