The recent heavy rainfall in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has led to a tragic loss for nine Pakistani individuals, as reported by the Pakistan diplomatic mission in the UAE. The victims, hailing from various regions in Pakistan, faced perilous circumstances amidst the tumultuous weather.
Among the deceased, three were from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), three from Punjab, two from Sindh, and one from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). The heartbreaking incidents include Muhammad Basharat from AJK, who lost his life when his vehicle was engulfed by floodwaters in Dubai, and Ahtisham Khursheed, whose vehicle succumbed to rising waters in the same emirate.
Additionally, Muhammad Shakeel and Sajawal Shahid faced a fatal electrocution incident in Dubai, while Asif Ali and Hamza tragically lost their lives when a wall collapsed in Al Ain. Zameer Abbas from Punjab was trapped in his vehicle in rainwater in Sharjah, and Bahar Ali from KPK fell into floodwaters while attempting a rescue in Sharjah.
The swift repatriation of the victims’ bodies, facilitated by diplomatic clearance, has provided some relief to their grieving families. A senior diplomat expressed that laying their loved ones to rest in their homeland allows the families to begin the grieving process and find closure during this heartbreaking tragedy.
The tragic loss of these nine Pakistanis serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of natural disasters and the importance of safety measures during extreme weather conditions.
