Nine Temple students awarded Fulbright scholarships

Temple University Celebrates Success in Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Temple University continues to shine in the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program, with nine students named as recipients this year. This achievement further solidifies Temple’s reputation as a top producing institution in the program.

Provost Gregory N. Mandel commended the recipients, calling them “exemplary global ambassadors for Temple.” He highlighted their contributions to various fields and praised their dedication to the university’s mission.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers funding for research, creative projects, graduate study, and English teaching opportunities abroad. Recipients immerse themselves in the host country’s culture, fostering meaningful connections and sharing experiences.

President Richard M. Englert expressed gratitude to the faculty and staff who support students in their Fulbright endeavors. He emphasized Temple’s commitment to producing successful global citizens through programs like Fulbright.

Among the recipients is Diana Tiburcio, who adds the Fulbright honor to her list of achievements, including the prestigious Goldwater scholarship. In addition to the nine recipients, five Temple students and alumni have been named as alternates for the Fulbright program.

Barbara Gorka, Director of Fellowships Advising, highlighted the diverse disciplines represented by this year’s recipients, showcasing the program’s flexibility and inclusivity.

Temple students and alumni have traveled to various countries through Fulbright, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Spain. The recipients and alternates for this year cover a range of fields, from arts to engineering, demonstrating the program’s broad appeal.

The Fulbright competition at Temple is administered through Scholar Development and Fellowships Advising, providing students with support in applying for prestigious scholarships like Fulbright. Temple’s success in the program reflects its dedication to fostering global engagement and academic excellence.
