Nintendo confirms Switch 2, full reveal expected by March 2025

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Nintendo fans around the world are buzzing with excitement after the official announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 by Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa. While the full reveal of the highly anticipated console is not set to happen until March 2025, fans can expect more information within this fiscal year.

In a message posted on Twitter/X, Furukawa confirmed the existence of the Nintendo Switch 2, although he did not refer to it by that name. This announcement comes after months of speculation and rumors surrounding the next-generation console from Nintendo.

While fans may be eager to learn more about the Nintendo Switch 2, Furukawa made it clear that the upcoming Nintendo Direct in June will not feature any information about the new console. Instead, the focus will be on the software lineup for the latter half of 2024.

With the current fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025, fans can expect to hear more about the Nintendo Switch 2 before then. This lines up with previous reports that suggested a delay in the release of the console to the first quarter of 2025.

In the meantime, Nintendo is gearing up to showcase its upcoming games in the second half of 2024 during the Nintendo Direct. While fans may not see many new first-party games for the current console generation, the anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to build as fans eagerly await more details about the highly anticipated console.
