Nissan’s DARING Africa 2024 expedition has successfully completed its Kenya leg, marking a significant milestone in the overland adventure across eight countries with four Nissan Navara pick-ups and an X-Trail SUV. The journey, which began in Rosslyn, South Africa, has taken the team through Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, and now Kenya.

Maciej Klenkiewicz, managing director of Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa, expressed his excitement about the journey, highlighting the celebration of Nissan’s African footprint and 60-year-old light commercial vehicle legacy on the continent. The expedition aims to link Nissan’s LCV manufacturing hub in South Africa with its Egyptian PV manufacturing facility in Cairo.

In Kenya, the DARING Africa team was warmly welcomed by executives from Nissan Kenya and local media. The expedition crew shared their experiences of the journey, emphasizing the durability and reliability of the Navara and X-Trail vehicles. Selected media and key Nissan clients were invited to try out the vehicles on a 4×4 driving experience, showcasing their capabilities in challenging terrains.

Tim Jaques, CEO of Motus Africa, praised the team for driving the unmodified Navara pick-ups from Rosslyn to Kenya without any mechanical issues, highlighting the vehicles’ toughness and reliability. The expedition has been described as an epic experience, with challenging roads and invaluable experiences shared along the way.

As DARING Africa 2024 transitions to Egypt for the final leg of the journey, Nissan’s Head of Communications and Public Relations, Ramy Mohareb, emphasized the importance of the expedition in unlocking the potential of the unique continent. The journey has not only showcased Nissan’s vehicles but also fostered relationships and shared visions for the future of Africa.
