Nominations now open for UK Active Awards for Excellence

UK Active has announced the details of its highly anticipated annual health and fitness industry awards ceremony, set to take place in Birmingham on the evening of Thursday 3 October at the International Convention Centre. The trade body has introduced 16 award categories for 2024, including new additions such as the Outstanding Individual Leader and Outstanding Leadership Team awards.

The awards are open to fitness and leisure operators of all sizes, industry suppliers, sports organizations, and sector partners. Entries for the awards will close on 24 May, giving participants ample time to showcase their achievements and innovations in the industry.

Last year’s winners included Places Leisure, Ballyearl Arts and Leisure Centre, Les Mills UK, and Study Active, who were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the health and fitness sector. This year, UK Active CEO Huw Edwards encourages all members to participate and acknowledge the exceptional work of their teams and members.

The awards ceremony will be followed by Active Uprising on Thursday 6 March 2025, continuing the tradition of celebrating leadership, creativity, innovation, diversity, and excellence in the industry. The event is sponsored by The Swimming Teachers Association (STA), highlighting the importance of recognizing organizations that are making a real impact in their communities.

With entry rates starting at £195 + VAT for UK Active members and £295 + VAT for non-members, the award categories are divided into three groups for organizational excellence, specialist impact, and individual achievement. The comprehensive judging process includes mystery shops, public votes, UK Active board input, and a judging panel, ensuring a fair and transparent selection of winners.

The UK Active Awards 2024 timeline includes entries opening on 15th April, with the deadline set for Friday 24th May. Finalists will be announced in July, followed by the virtual Judges’ House in August, leading up to the grand awards ceremony on Thursday 3rd October. Participants are encouraged to enter and be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the health and fitness industry.
