The Norway varsity baseball team faced a tough battle against Jeffers in the MHSAA Division 4 Regional 49 Semifinals, but they emerged victorious with a 4-3 win. Despite not recording any hits in the game, the Knights managed to capitalize on opportunities and secure the win.

Head coach Tony Adams commended his team for sticking together after a challenging third inning. He acknowledged that they were not at their best offensively but credited Jeffers for their strong performance. The Knights’ ability to take advantage of key moments ultimately led to their success.

After a scoreless tie in the first two innings, Norway took control in the third inning. Carter Cazzola’s aggressive baserunning and key plays from Ian Popp and Cameron Varda helped the Knights take a 1-0 lead. However, Jeffers quickly responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, putting Norway in a 3-1 deficit.

Undeterred, Norway mounted a comeback in the later innings. Cazzola’s baserunning prowess and clutch hitting from Landon Amundson helped the Knights score three runs and take a 4-3 lead. Strong pitching performances from Cole Baij and Owen Baij sealed the victory for Norway.

With a record of 25-3-1, the Knights are set to face Rudyard in the next round of the tournament. The upcoming game in Harbor Springs promises to be another exciting matchup for Norway as they continue their quest for a championship title.
