Not all of Haley’s Pennsylvania voters are ready to support Trump

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, a significant shift is taking place among Republican voters as the 2024 election approaches. Joan London, a long-time Republican voter, recently changed her party registration from Republican to Independent. London, who had been a Republican since she was 18, cited a shift in the party’s direction towards populism as the reason for her change.

London’s story is not unique. Many Republican voters in Pennsylvania, including Irma Fralic and Linda Rooney, are reevaluating their party allegiance. Fralic, a daughter of Cuban immigrants and a Reagan Republican, voted for Nikki Haley in the primary as a protest against the current state of the party. Rooney, who voted for Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020, is considering holding her nose and voting for Trump again in 2024.

Michael Pesce, a Coast Guard veteran and long-time Republican voter, also expressed his disillusionment with Trump and his actions, stating that he will vote for anyone but Trump in the upcoming election.

The shift in Republican voters in Pennsylvania could have significant implications for the 2024 election, as the state has been a crucial battleground in recent elections. With more than 150,000 Pennsylvania Republicans casting votes for Haley in the primary, their decisions on who to support in the general election could sway the outcome.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the voices of these voters in Pennsylvania are a reflection of the broader changes happening within the Republican Party. The 2024 election is shaping up to be a pivotal moment for the party and the country as a whole.
