Novak Djokovic faced a shocking incident during his Italian Open campaign when he was struck on the head by a bottle while signing autographs off-court. The incident occurred after Djokovic had secured a straight-sets victory against Corentin Moutet, progressing to the third round of the tournament.

The World No 1 appeared visibly hurt after the aluminium-type water bottle fell out of a spectator’s backpack and hit him on the head. Despite the incident, Djokovic was checked by medical staff and later confirmed to be in a stable condition, with no cause for concern.

In the match against Moutet, Djokovic showed resilience after being broken in his first two service games, eventually winning the first set 6-4 and dominating the second set 6-1. Moutet, on the other hand, struggled to maintain his composure, receiving a warning for kicking the net and throwing his racket multiple times.

Djokovic will now face Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo in the third round of the Italian Open. The tournament also saw other notable matches, including former champion Alexander Zverev’s victory and fifth seed Casper Ruud’s shock defeat. Fans can catch all the action live on Sky Sports as the clay-court season heats up in preparation for the French Open at Roland Garros.
