The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is set to showcase its cutting-edge space-related programs and technologies at the 39th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs from April 8-11, 2024. Dr. Steven Meier from NRL will be part of a panel discussion on “Inventing the Future for Space Superiority” alongside experts from the Air Force Research Laboratory and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Visitors to NRL’s exhibit booth #625 can learn about various technologies and capabilities, including CTAR for tactical awareness, LARADO for debris observation, and the LEO Laser Retroreflector Array for satellite ranging. The NRL also offers software like Neptune for command and control and NIMO for ionospheric data assimilation.
One of the highlights is NRL’s work on space robotics and satellite servicing, aiming to transition unmanned space robotic satellite servicing from R&D to a national capability. Additionally, NRL is exploring space solar power beaming and has developed the Virtual Mission Operations Center for satellite mission planning.
The National Space Symposium will bring together attendees from various sectors of the space community, including space agencies, military, national security organizations, and private space travel providers. With over 10,000 attendees from 25 countries expected, the event will feature discussions on the latest advancements in space technology.
NRL, a scientific and engineering command for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, is dedicated to driving innovative advances from the seafloor to space. With major field sites across the country, NRL employs approximately 3,000 civilian scientists, engineers, and support personnel.
