Stephen Sisko, a beloved educator and coach, passed away at the age of 77 in Powell on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Born in Warren, Ohio, Stephen had a long and fulfilling career in education that spanned over four decades.
After graduating from Niles McKinley High School, Stephen pursued his passion for journalism at Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism. He also excelled in football, playing for both his high school and college teams. Later, he earned a master’s degree in education from Westminster College in 1974.
Stephen dedicated his life to teaching and coaching, starting at Warren City Schools before becoming the principal of Grand Valley High School in Orwell, Ohio. He was known for his dedication to his students and his commitment to their success.
Outside of work, Stephen was an avid golfer and a member of the Silver Eagles at Kinsale Country Club. He cherished spending time with his family, especially attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia, his children Hallie, Carey, and Stephen, his grandchildren, and his sister Sandra. A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date.
