Obsessions Salon in Ramsgate Celebrates 20 Years with Industry Awards and Mental Health Initiatives

Ramsgate’s beloved Obsessions Salon is marking a significant milestone as it celebrates 20 years in business on May 4. Founded by Jennifer Kerr, who started her journey as a dedicated 14-year-old working weekends in a small shop, Obsessions Salon has evolved into a sanctuary known for its inclusive and nurturing environment.

Under Jennifer’s leadership, the salon has received numerous accolades, including being named the Best Salon in the UK for the past two years, the Best Salon in Kent for the last three years, and Community Mental Health Champions 2024.

One of the standout initiatives at Obsessions is the mental health training program called “Salon Minds,” developed by Jennifer and her husband Jamie Kerr, a leading mental wellbeing coach. This program equips stylists with the skills to engage in impactful conversations and shift client interactions from negativity to inspiration. It also focuses on personal development, helping stylists establish boundaries to protect their personal happiness and family time.

In addition to their mental health initiatives, Obsessions has also introduced community fitness programs, such as an early morning sea swimming club and involvement in the Thanet Girls Run Club. These initiatives not only promote physical health but also foster social connections and friendships.

Looking ahead, Jennifer plans to integrate more wellness activities within the salon, such as yoga classes, a book club, and a women’s business club. These initiatives are driven by her desire to create spaces where individuals can grow, achieve, and connect in a supportive environment.
