OHSAA reveals softball playoff brackets: News, Sports, Jobs

The Mahoning Valley is gearing up for another exciting softball postseason as the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) released the 2024 tournament brackets. With the state semifinals and finals set to take place at Firestone Stadium in Akron from May 30 to June 1, local teams are ready to showcase their talent on the big stage.

Last year, three local teams made it to at least the state semifinals, setting the bar high for this year’s competition. The area is filled with top-seeded teams, including defending Division I state champion Austintown Fitch, who secured a No. 1 seed. Canfield, the defending Division II state runner-up, earned a No. 2 seed, while state powerhouse Champion and South Range picked up No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in Division III, respectively. In Division IV, Mathews also earned a No. 1 seed.

Fitch will begin their quest to defend their title with a bye in the Northeast 2 Youngstown district, facing the winner of Lyndhurst Brush and Mayfield. Canfield and other local teams like Boardman, Howland, South Range, Champion, and more are also gearing up for their first-round matchups in their respective districts.
