Ohtani and Smith Lead Dodgers to 3-Game Sweep Over Mets with 10-3 Victory

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Los Angeles Dodgers dominated the New York Mets in a 10-3 victory on Wednesday, completing a three-game sweep at Citi Field. Shohei Ohtani led the charge with a homer and three RBIs, while Will Smith added two home runs to secure the win.

Smith’s second homer, a tiebreaking solo shot off Adam Ottavino, ignited a six-run eighth inning rally that sealed the Mets’ fate. Miguel Vargas and Miguel Rojas also contributed with key hits during the Dodgers’ offensive explosion.

Ohtani, who had been struggling at the plate, broke out with a crucial RBI single and his 14th homer of the season. The Mets, on the other hand, continued their downward spiral with their 10th loss in 12 games.

The Dodgers’ pitching staff held strong, with Blake Treinen earning the win after a scoreless seventh inning. Despite starter James Paxton being pulled early, the bullpen stepped up to secure the victory.

The Mets’ David Peterson made his season debut after hip surgery, allowing three runs over five innings. The Dodgers’ Evan Phillips is expected to return from injury soon, while Max Muncy’s recovery will be a slower process.

With the win, the Dodgers maintain their lead in the NL West and look ahead to a series against the Colorado Rockies. The Mets will face the Arizona Diamondbacks, hoping to turn their season around.
