Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling back-and-forth game, the Los Angeles Kings emerged victorious over the Edmonton Oilers with a 5-4 overtime win at Rogers Place. Anze Kopitar was the hero of the night, scoring the game-winning goal to even the best-of-seven series at 1-1.

The Kings got off to a strong start with Adrian Kempe scoring early in the first period off a pass from Kopitar. Kempe added another goal later in the period, showcasing his offensive prowess. Despite a goal from Brett Kulak for the Oilers, Drew Doughty extended the Kings’ lead with a breakaway goal.

The Oilers fought back in the second period, with goals from Dylan Holloway and Zach Hyman to tie the game. However, Kevin Fiala and Holloway traded goals in the third period, keeping the score close.

With the game tied at 4-4, Connor McDavid’s penalty for holding gave the Kings a power play opportunity. Kopitar capitalized on a partial breakaway in overtime, beating Stuart Skinner to secure the win for the Kings.

After the game, Oilers forward Dylan Holloway praised his team’s effort but acknowledged the need for improvement. The series now shifts to Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles for Game 3, where both teams will look to take the lead in this tightly contested matchup.
